US industrial output rises 0.7% in September as utilities strengthen and quarterly manufacturing growth slows
US industrial output rose 0.7% in September, but third-quarter growth was slower than in the second quarter. Electric and gas utilities strengthened, vehicle production fell and semiconductors continued growing. Manufacturing utilization remained below its long-run average, while preliminary estimates and November revisions limit firm conclusions.
